About The Position

TransPerfect is seeking freelance Instructional Designers who are fluent Norwegian speakers to create innovative learning experiences, particularly for the construction industry. While experience with technical or industrial audiences is beneficial, the primary focus is on making complex content accessible and engaging. The ideal candidate will work independently on complex projects, manage feedback effectively, balance instructional design principles with client needs, and collaborate with integrated teams. Responsibilities include translating SME input into clear instructional narratives, designing scenario-based learning and knowledge checks, writing video scripts, and adapting content for international contexts.

Requirements

• Strong writing skills are essential; this role is heavily dependent on clear, structured communication
• Familiarity with Cognitive Load Theory and its application in learning design
• A minimum of native-level proficiency or C1 in Norwegian and B2 in English is required

Nice To Haves

• Experience designing for technical or industrial audiences is a plus

Responsibilities

• Works independently across complex, multi-deliverable projects with minimal direction
• Manages feedback efficiently and proactively flags scope concerns to keep projects on track
• Balances instructional design principles with practical client needs without losing sight of the learner
• Collaborates closely with PMs, UI/UX designers, and developers as part of an integrated team
• Translates SME input and raw content into clear, structured instructional narrative
• Designs scenario-based learning and knowledge checks that connect to real job performance
• Writes video scripts that are clear, purposeful, and suited to the audience
• Adapts content and tone for international and multilingual contexts
