The Instructional Designer partners with business leaders and subject-matter experts to identify learning needs, clarify desired outcomes, and recommend effective solutions—including alternatives to training when appropriate. The role designs and develops practical, engaging learning experiences that align with business goals, learner needs, operational constraints, and performance outcomes. It also translates operational documents such as standard operating procedures and policies into learner-friendly solutions, and measures and improves learning effectiveness over time. The role supports frontline teams whose work may involve limited time away from operations, varying experience levels, seasonal employment, and primarily mobile or shared-device access. Learning formats may include eLearning, video, virtual and in-person training, experiential exercises, assessments, job aids, facilitator materials, and performance-support resources. The designer uses AI-assisted authoring and media tools thoughtfully, while maintaining content accuracy, brand standards, accessibility, and an authentic Pursuit experience. The Instructional Designer manages multiple projects and stakeholder reviews, maintains content governance and source documentation, and collaborates with teams across Operations, People, Safety, Technology, and other support functions. Pursuit describes its work environment as collaborative and inclusive, with teams connected to its destinations and a range of employee perks.
