About The Position

The Instructional Designer intern is responsible for developing training curriculum and materials for targeted functional areas by creating, delivering, and overseeing educational materials for employee and career training and development. The Instructional Designer intern utilizes their foundational understanding of instructional design models to produce impactful, measurable results, while fostering a collaborative and productive learning environment that captures the audience’s attention and helps them meet their development goals. This is a hybrid or essential onsite role, which will require onsite attendance. This internship is located in DigiKey’s corporate headquarters in Thief River Falls, MN and will require regular onsite attendance. Local housing is provided for interns.

Requirements

A rising Junior or Senior currently pursuing a degree in instructional design, learning experience design (LXD), educational technology, educational psychology or related field.
Ability to use instructional materials and resources effectively
Critical-thinking skills
Concrete verbal and written communication skills
In-depth understanding of instructional design models and adult learning theories
Clear and effective curriculum-planning skills
Ability to navigate difficult and complex problems with professionalism
Be willing to take the initiative, working independently and collaboratively

Responsibilities

Create immersive educational experiences for DigiKey audiences
Apply core instructional design principles and theories to maximize learning
Plan, organize and develop training curricula, materials and programs, for in-person, virtual and eLearning training programs
Collaborate with subject matter experts, vendors, and internal stakeholders for curriculum design
Plan and coordinate skills assessments and training
Assess and update learning objectives, developing and monitoring metrics for evaluating training, and development effectiveness
Research and implement new technologies into classroom and virtual instruction
