Inside Sales Representative I Sales - Retail Sales
About The Position
Under direct supervision, the Inside Sales Representative provides sales and customer service activities primarily for retail customers, using knowledge of sales techniques and industry products. The role assists customers with product selection, pricing, availability, refunds, and exchanges through walk-in, telephone, and email interactions; sells company products and related items; prepares estimates and quotes for small packages; enters orders and schedules deliveries; and supports store operations and customer workshops. The position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and six months of sales-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of company products, competitors’ products, and company standards.
- Knowledge of company product pricing, discounts, and estimating formulas and guidelines.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of basic sales techniques and concepts, with the ability to influence and persuade.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and an enterprise resource planning (ERP) program.
- Knowledge of and ability to use motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including frequent lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting and carrying up to 80 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Assist retail customers in person, by telephone, and by email with product selection, pricing, availability, refunds, and exchanges.
- Sell company products and services and related items; prepare material estimates and quotes for small packages such as stairs, decks, fences, and sheds.
- Enter orders into the system and schedule product deliveries.
- Plan and pace work to meet daily, weekly, project, or team productivity goals.
- Participate in coordinating and conducting customer workshops.
- Resolve simple customer complaints and refer more complex issues to senior staff.
- Assist with store housekeeping, signage, stocking, inventory control, and related activities.
- Follow safety procedures and practices, attend safety meetings as required, and potentially recommend safety improvements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
