About The Position

Under direct supervision, the Inside Sales Representative provides sales and customer service activities primarily to retail customers, using sales techniques and industry knowledge. The role supports customers with product selection, pricing, availability, refunds, and exchanges; sells company products and related items; prepares estimates and quotes for small projects; enters orders and schedules deliveries; and helps maintain store operations, safety, and customer workshops. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and six months of sales-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of company products, competitors’ products, and company standards.
• Knowledge of product pricing, discounts, and estimating formulas and guidelines.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Knowledge of basic sales techniques and the ability to influence and persuade.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and an enterprise resource planning (ERP) program.
• Knowledge of and ability to use motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 80 pounds.
• Ability to stand or walk for 80% of the day and stoop and kneel throughout the day.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to retail customers in person, by telephone, or by email, including assistance with product selection, pricing, availability, refunds, and exchanges.
• Sell company products and services and related items.
• Prepare material estimates and quotes for small packages such as stairs, decks, fences, and sheds.
• Enter orders into the system and schedule product deliveries.
• Plan and pace work to meet daily, weekly, project, and team productivity goals.
• Participate in coordinating and conducting customer workshops.
• Resolve simple customer complaints and refer more complex issues to senior staff.
• Assist with store housekeeping, signage, stocking, inventory control, and related activities.
• Follow safety procedures and practices, attend safety meetings as required, and potentially recommend safety improvements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
