About The Position

The Inside Counter Sales position sells medical, industrial, and specialty gases, along with welding equipment, hard goods, and tools. The role assists walk-in and telephone customers with product questions and concerns, processes orders in accordance with safety procedures, provides exceptional customer service, and maintains accurate inventory records. The Counter Sales Associate also supports the Branch Manager, Outside Sales team, and Delivery Driver as needed.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 2 years of previous product, warehouse, sales, or customer service-related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficiency in MS Office applications.
Experience working with industrial-related supplies, products, or services, preferably industrial gases and/or welding supplies.

Nice To Haves

Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
Strong background in the gas, welding, and/or safety supply industry with retail experience.
Prior experience operating a forklift.

Responsibilities

Solicit sales from walk-in and telephone customers, helping them identify product needs and locate merchandise.
Complete and file required paperwork accurately and on time.
Document sales, quotes, and other information; enter sales and quote data into the computer and research information for customers.
Receive payment for merchandise or services and enter sales into the computer.
Manage payments received and follow administrative and accounting procedures.
Handle customer inquiries about accounts receivable billing issues, cylinder balances, order status, delivery timing, and related matters.
Follow all safety procedures, including established procedures for cylinder handling during exchanges and storage.
Maintain showroom cleanliness according to management procedures.
Maintain current price documentation and product literature as it becomes available.
Keep product knowledge current.
Support the Branch Manager, Outside Sales team, and Delivery Driver as required.
