About The Position

The Inside Counter Sales position sells medical, industrial, and specialty gases, as well as welding equipment, hard goods, and tools. The role assists walk-in and telephone customers with inquiries, concerns, and product needs; processes orders in accordance with established safety procedures; provides exceptional customer service; and maintains accurate inventory records. The position also supports the Branch Manager, Outside Sales team, and Delivery Driver as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 2 years of previous product, warehouse, sales, or customer service-related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Experience working with industrial-related supplies, products, or services, preferably industrial gases and/or welding supplies.

Nice To Haves

• Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Strong background in the gas, welding, and/or safety supply industry with retail experience preferred.
• Prior experience operating a forklift preferred.

Responsibilities

• Solicit sales from walk-in and telephone customers, helping customers identify product needs and locate merchandise.
• Complete and file required paperwork accurately and promptly, and document sales, quotes, and other information.
• Enter sales and quote data into the computer and research customer information using the computer system.
• Receive payment for merchandise or services, enter sales into the computer, and follow administrative and accounting procedures for payments received.
• Handle customer inquiries concerning accounts receivable billing issues, cylinder balances, order status, and delivery timing.
• Follow safety procedures, including established procedures for handling cylinders during exchanges and storage.
• Maintain showroom cleanliness according to procedures set by management.
• Maintain current price documentation and product literature, and keep product knowledge current.
• Provide support to the Branch Manager, Outside Sales team, and Delivery Driver as required.
