About The Position

The Inpatient Surgical Patient Care Technician provides direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse, supporting licensed professional nurses in maintaining a safe, healing environment and reducing the risk of harm. The role gathers vital clinical information that contributes to patient assessments and reports changes in patient condition to the nursing team.

The position is on the Inpatient Surgical floor at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, a 68-bed unit that primarily treats post-surgical patients and includes a 10-bed Surgical Complex wing. The schedule is part-time, 24 hours per week, on the night shift from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with holiday and weekend rotation. The role is benefit eligible.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under nurse supervision, promoting patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Administer or assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
• Perform vital signs, intake and output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing as requested.
• Collect clinical data and report changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assist the nurse with patient and family education.
• Document patient care activities using correct medical terminology.
• Act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are available to meet patient needs.
• Participate in activities promoting patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in professional development.
