Inpatient Behavioral Health Registered Nurse RN
About The Position
The Inpatient Behavioral Health Registered Nurse at Saint Mary’s Hospital supports patients and their families through behavioral health treatment, using a compassionate, dignified, and stigma-free approach. The nurse contributes to recovery and empowerment by providing support, sharing meaningful feedback with the multidisciplinary team to help tailor individual treatment goals, and educating and supporting patients and families during behavioral health admission. The role also promotes safety and patient satisfaction through patient observations, milieu management, and communication and response to emergent needs. This is a full-time position working 36 hours per week on a 12-hour night shift, with weekend and holiday requirements. Saint Mary’s Hospital is a Catholic, not-for-profit community teaching hospital serving Waterbury, Connecticut, and surrounding communities.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited college or university affiliated nursing program.
- Current Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) graduate.
- Behavioral or psychiatric experience.
Responsibilities
- Support patients and families as they work toward recovery from behavioral health conditions.
- Provide feedback to the multidisciplinary team to help tailor treatment goals to individual patient needs.
- Educate and support patients and their families during behavioral health admission.
- Lead patient observations and milieu management to support safety and patient satisfaction.
- Communicate and help address patients’ emergent needs.
