Description Reusable systems are the key to seamlessly connecting Earth and space. An instrumental ingredient to making reusable launch vehicles is a highly operable, reliable, and robust ground system. As an Infrastructure Engineer at our Moses Lake test facility, you will be responsible for collaborating with other engineers and technicians to rapidly design and build test stands. Your focus will be on test site infrastructure architecture, engineering design, construction strategy, build execution, and maintaining reliable site operations so testing is never disrupted. You must be ready to stay focused, move fast, self-direct, and learn on the fly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, construction management, or similar field
  • 4+ years of experience in a related role performing engineering, design/build, and management of critical infrastructure projects in aerospace or similar high-performance applications (amusement park, oil & gas, heavy equipment, energy systems, etc.)
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of heavy-civil structural engineering and construction, including experience with structural steel, reinforced concrete structures, deep foundations, mass excavations, and mass earthwork
  • Demonstrated experience in project management fundamentals including scope definition, schedule & budget development/implementation, procurement, contracts, cost estimation, value engineering, and field execution
  • Demonstrated experience executing large capital improvement projects while driving economical and expedient solutions
  • Excellent understanding of engineering construction drawings and construction means & methods
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, receive and incorporate constructive feedback, and work well on a high-performing team
  • Experience with applicable engineering standards including ASCE 7, IBC/FBC, AISC 360/358, ACI 318/530, NFPA, ASTM, & ASME
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to lead and follow
  • Must be willing to relocate to Moses Lake, WA, and able and willing to travel for work as required
  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Responsibilities

  • Manage internal engineering projects and contracted engineering firms in order to design new and upgrade existing test site infrastructure systems across: civil, structural, electrical and other disciplines
  • Oversee project budgets, cost tracking, and forecasting; process change orders and maintain cost control throughout the project lifecycle
  • Leverage field experience in the design of new systems to drive decisions that will assist the construction process as well as future operational needs
  • Conduct constructability reviews and value engineering assessments to optimize design for construction efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Direct and supervise contractors, subcontractors, and field craft, including all vendors associated with the respective projects on site
  • Oversee quality control inspections, material testing, and compliance with project specifications and safety requirements
  • Develop, own, and execute assigned project scope, RFPs, project award, construction management, and activation for both heavy civil structural and on-site test facilities
  • Support permitting requirements and associated coordination with the required agencies
  • Maintain as-built documentation, track punch list items, and manage project closeout deliverables
  • Drive and maintain project execution quality and ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory compliance
