About The Position

As the Indiana Divisional Systems Support Engineer, you will strategically assist in leading IT operations, infrastructure, and support across the division. Your role will focus on aligning technology initiatives with The Salvation Army's mission, implementing efficient systems, fostering team excellence, and driving continuous improvement in IT service delivery and resource management.

Requirements

  • BS / BA in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, -or- 10 years’ experience in Information Technology employment.
  • Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver’s qualification standard.
  • Must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft and Apple products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems.
  • Must be patient, have good customer service skills, and the ability to analyze and resolve issues quickly and able to determine best solution from multiple choices.
  • Must be comfortable providing technical support over the phone.
  • Familiarity and competent use of common network tools and testing equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a team setting.
  • Possess a positive attitude and work well with others.
  • Be trustworthy and discreet when working with confidential matters.
  • Be well organized and efficient.

Responsibilities

  • Provide managerial oversight to the department (i.e. ADP supervision, and scheduling of department employees).
  • Develop and oversee the budget for the department in close communication with department head and Finance Department input.
  • Oversee the implementation of hardware and software solutions, including installation and upgrades.
  • Conduct on-site visits to evaluate equipment and provide suggestions for upgrades and improvements.
  • Ensure systems and infrastructure are maintained according to organizational standards and best practices.
  • Maintains an inventory of all computer hardware and software.
  • Provide expert support for data processing, hardware, software, telephone, and network functions, including Mac computers.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues to ensure system reliability.
  • Configure, install, and maintain network infrastructure and endpoints, including servers and client systems.
  • Create and maintain user accounts in Active Directory, ensuring appropriate permissions and access levels.
  • Deliver high-quality support via phone, chat, and email, employing remote access tools to resolve issues swiftly.
  • Collaborate with Corps Officers and Department Heads to assess and address IT needs effectively.
  • Assess current IT infrastructure and make strategic recommendations for upgrades and enhancements.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technology solutions, including camera security systems, and door access controls.
  • Assist in evaluating existing facilities for Ethernet wiring, making strategic recommendations for upgrades.
  • Develop, update, and manage comprehensive documentation for IT procedures, processes, and configurations.
  • Ensure adherence to software licensing agreements and organizational IT standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of IT assets and compliance with best practices.
  • Ensures that information system management and computer operations comply with Salvation Army policies and procedures, contractual obligations, and accreditation standards, as interpreted by the Director or his designate.
  • Assists the Internal Auditor or other designated staff in preparing appropriate reports to support compliance.
  • Work alongside THQ and Divisional IT teams to ensure consistent IT support and direction.
  • Foster relationships with vendors to negotiate favorable contracts and obtain quality equipment.
  • Exhibit a proactive approach to problem-solving and maintain a customer-focused attitude.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by leadership.
