As an Information Technology Generalist 1 with the Department of Corrections, State correctional Institution (SCI) Laurel Highlands, you will help strengthen the technology that supports facilities across the state. Requirements

  • One year as an Information Technology Trainee or Information Technology Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Three years of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services; or One year of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance on hardware and software use and assist users in solving technical issues
  • Review current processes and gather data to create improved applications and workflows
  • Monitor network availability, configure equipment, and maintain connectivity to ensure reliable operations
  • Maintain user accounts, review security logs, and apply protective measures to safeguard systems
  • Install, upgrade, and adjust hardware, peripherals, operating systems, and application software
  • Deliver training to staff and support lower-level technical personnel in system procedures
