The Medical Records Supervisor position with the Department of Corrections offers a chance to support high-quality health care that makes a real impact. Requirements

  • Possession of a valid Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certificate issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or eligibility for certification including completion of an AHIMA approved RHIT or RHIA Health Information Management education program.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Employees who meet the Necessary Special Requirement based on the eligibility option for the RHIT or RHIA certification must obtain one of these certifications within 12 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and guide medical records staff to complete work accurately and on time
  • Organize, code, and maintain integrated health records in line with all policies and standards
  • Prepare, issue, transfer, and secure records while following confidentiality and legal requirements
  • Examine records for accuracy and refer incomplete documentation to appropriate health care staff
  • Prepare statistical summaries and reports to support medical planning and oversight
  • Take part in quality assurance activities and assess opportunities for system improvements
