About The Position
The Industrial Sewing Machine Operator sets up and operates industrial sewing machines to produce completed products. The role includes machine maintenance, preparing and measuring materials, following job orders and instructions, and moving completed products to the appropriate area. The position is based in El Cajon, California, and has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Manual dexterity.
- Ability to read work instructions.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to read standard and metric rulers.
- Ability to read a tape measure, blueprints, and schematics.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate industrial sewing machines and perform maintenance, including oiling, threading, and cleaning.
- Prepare materials for jobs by laying them out, measuring accurately with a ruler, and cutting them with material scissors.
- Report problems or discrepancies to management immediately.
- Prepare materials in accordance with job orders, shop drawings, and verbal or written instructions.
- Prepare sewing machines for each job by selecting appropriate thread and adjusting machine guides and the presser foot.
- Move completed products from the worktable to the appropriate area, lifting as needed.
- Use industrial sewing knowledge to move products accurately during sewing operations.
- Attach the job order to completed products.
- Follow safety guidelines at all times.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
