About The Position

Safe Fleet is hiring an Industrial Sewing Machine Operator in El Cajon, California. This position sets up and operates industrial sewing machines to produce completed products and performs basic machine maintenance. The employee prepares materials according to job orders, shop drawings, and verbal or written instructions, and follows safety guidelines throughout the work process. This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Manual dexterity.
Ability to read work instructions.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to read standard and metric rulers, tape measures, blueprints, and schematics.
Ability to work overtime and weekends.
Ability to meet the physical demands of regularly standing and reaching with hands and arms, and occasionally walking and lifting up to 50 pounds.
PPE is required for this position.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate industrial sewing machines.
Maintain sewing machines by oiling, threading, and cleaning them.
Prepare materials for each job by laying them out, measuring them accurately with a ruler, and cutting them with material scissors.
Prepare materials in accordance with job orders, shop drawings, and verbal or written instructions.
Prepare the sewing machine for each job with appropriate thread and by adjusting machine guides and the presser foot.
Apply knowledge of industrial sewing to move product accurately during the sewing operation.
Move completed products from the worktable to the appropriate area, lifting as needed.
Report problems or discrepancies to management immediately.
Attach the job order to the completed product.
Adhere to safety guidelines at all times.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
