About The Position

Rogers Machinery, founded in 1949, specializes in industrial compressed air systems, blowers, vacuum pumps, and positive displacement pumps. We have 8 branches in the Northwest with full sales, service, and parts capability as well locations in San Jose, CA, Atlanta, GA, Houston, TX, and Southern California. Our production facilities are in Portland, OR and Centralia, WA. This role involves repairing industrial machinery such as air compressors (5-500HP), positive displacement and liquid ring pumps, refrigerated and desiccant dryers, and vacuum systems at various customer sites. The position requires the ability to read and follow technical documentation, troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform repairs, interpret instrument readings, and inspect and adjust components. A strong understanding of electrical circuits, mechanics, and pneumatics is necessary. The technician will also verify electrical power, test and replace electrical components, and troubleshoot PLCs. Additional duties may include training customers, maintaining company vehicles, managing truck stock, and completing paperwork. This position is on-call as needed, may require overtime, and occasional overnight travel.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of compressor maintenance and troubleshooting experience or 5+ years of general mechanical experience.
  • Specialized Training: Mechanics, Refrigeration, Electrical Circuitry
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
  • Ability to recognize common mechanical and electrical components.
  • Apply system troubleshooting skills effectively.
  • Effective customer relations skills.

Responsibilities

  • Repair industrial machinery, such as air compressors (5-500HP), positive displacement and liquid ring pumps, refrigerated and desiccant dryers, and vacuum systems at various customer sites.
  • Read/follow sketches, schematics, blueprints, manufacturer’s specifications, and maintenance manuals to determine troubleshooting procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform repairs using system troubleshooting methodology and diagnostic tools.
  • Interpret readings on gages, indicators, and dials.
  • Visually inspect and listen to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions.
  • Dismantle machines and equipment to gain access to problem area, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Inspect and measure parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
  • Realign and adjust components.
  • Apply knowledge of electrical circuits, mechanics, and pneumatics.
  • Verify that electrical power is reaching the compressed air equipment, and that voltage is as specified, using testing instruments.
  • Test electrical components, such as wiring, switches, and relays, using test instruments, and replace faulty components.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs with diagnostic tools.
  • Start machine and equipment to test operation following repair.
  • Complete the Level 3 PQS (Personnel Qualification Standard).
  • May train customers’ staff in the operation of compressed air machinery.
  • Maintain company vehicles.
  • Organize and manage truck stock parts and tools.
  • Complete timecards, work orders & paperwork legibly and in a timely manner.
  • Be on-call as needed.
  • Work some overtime.
  • Perform occasional overnight travel.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
