About The Position

Compass Early Learning and Care (CELC) is seeking passionate and dedicated Inclusion Support Educators to join their team. This role involves engaging with children, families, community partners, and co-workers in a nurturing early learning environment. The position is primarily focused on an after-school program for kindergarten or school-age children, operating from 2 pm to 6 pm, Monday to Friday. The role requires a commitment to emergent curriculum, lifelong learning, and creating engaging learning opportunities. There is a possibility for additional hours based on program needs and funding. CELC is a large, not-for-profit child care organization serving East-Central Ontario since 1981, dedicated to high-quality licensed childcare and fostering a culture of growth, collaboration, and inclusivity.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years’ experience working with children and youth.
  • Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
  • Valid certifications, including a Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid, and CPR Level C, and updated immunization records.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators OR is currently pursuing or is interested in pursuing their ECE diploma. OR has an alternative childcare designation that is eligible for Director's Approval (i.e., Child and Youth, Recreation and Leisure, and Ontario Certified Teachers - Primary and Junior)

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead interest-based and play-based activities that reflect children’s unique interests to promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Maintain active supervision with children while still being engaged in play.
  • Document children’s learning progress through observation, reflection, and research questions.
  • Create and maintain an environment that protects the health, safety, and well-being of children.
  • Assist the children with diapering, dressing, and eating habits.
  • Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process.
  • Collaborate with coworkers, families, and community partners to create a supportive environment.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional learning opportunities, and staff training opportunities.
  • Assist in housekeeping duties within the program.
  • Follow CELC, CCEYA, and Ministry of Education policies and procedures.
