The Incident Response Technician responds to incidents on provincial highways, including traffic accidents, spills, and emergencies that affect highway operations or the safety of the traveling public. The role also assists police and emergency response services at incidents and accidents. The technician serves as a liaison among emergency responders and communicates incident information and updates to the Traffic Monitoring Center and FDOT. Duties include incident reporting and records management, coordinating detours and traffic-related special events, investigating fatalities to determine whether highway facilities contributed to an accident, and assisting with third-party claims documentation. The role requires independent workload management, sound judgment, effective communication, hazard recognition, and a strong safety focus. The technician must comply with Webber Infra’s risk management, quality assurance, and health, safety, and environment systems and statutory obligations, and consistently contribute to a positive HSE culture. Work is routinely outdoors and may involve extreme heat or cold, and occasional wet or humid conditions, high precarious places, fumes, and airborne particles. Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and insects is frequent; exposure to reptiles or rodents is infrequent. Noise is usually moderate and may sometimes be higher.
