About The Position

The San Diego Unified School District is seeking an In-School Resource Teacher for Franklin Elementary School. This role is open to current San Diego Unified Permanent and Probationary Teachers. The In-School Resource Teacher will provide targeted, supplemental instruction and intervention to students identified through academic data as not meeting grade-level expectations in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and/or English language development. This position involves delivering small-group and individualized intervention, including reading recovery and skill acceleration, to support students requiring additional academic assistance beyond core classroom instruction. The incumbent will monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies based on formative assessment data and intervention outcomes. Travel is not required for this role.

Requirements

  • Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential by the closing date of the application deadline.
  • Experience working in a classroom or school-based setting.
  • Demonstrated experience providing targeted academic instruction or intervention, particularly in English Language Arts and/or Mathematics.
  • Experience delivering small-group and individualized instruction.
  • Familiarity with using formative and summative assessment data to identify student needs, monitor progress, and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Current San Diego Unified Permanent and Probationary Teachers are eligible.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong preference for experience supporting elementary-aged students.
  • Experience with Eureka Math Curriculum is preferred.

  • Reading Specialist or other Intervention Credential preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, grade-level teams, and support staff (such as special education and English language development specialists) to identify student needs using academic data.
  • Deliver small-group and individualized instruction in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and/or English language development, focusing on skill acceleration, foundational literacy (including reading recovery practices), and targeted intervention strategies for both primary and upper grade students.
  • Analyze formative assessment data, progress monitoring student growth, and adjusting instructional approaches to ensure effectiveness.
  • Participate in team meetings, such as Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), to align intervention efforts with core instruction and contribute to data-driven decision-making.
