About The Position

The San Diego Unified School District is seeking an In-School Resource Teacher for Henry High School. This role is open to current San Diego Unified Permanent and Probationary Teachers. The district is committed to hiring educators who are passionate about students and their communities. The In-School Resource Teacher will provide schoolwide support to enhance Social Emotional Learning (SEL) through classroom instruction, early intervention, and student engagement. The position focuses on Tier 1 and Tier 2 supports to improve attendance, school connectedness, and assist targeted student groups, especially 9th graders. This role involves collaboration with counselors, teachers, administrators, and families to implement proactive supports aligned with site and district goals. It is designed for preventative, systems-level support and does not replace counseling services.

Requirements

  • Valid California Single Subject Teaching Credential by the closing date of the application deadline.
  • Experience with Social Emotional Learning (SEL) frameworks, restorative practices and/or student support systems and working with diverse student populations.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide SEL instruction in classroom settings.
  • Support identified students (e.g., Spotlight students) through targeted interventions and check-ins.
  • Monitor and respond to attendance and engagement concerns.
  • Facilitate restorative practices, including circles and conflict resolution.
  • Collaborate with site staff to implement Tier 1 and Tier 2 supports.
  • Communicate and partner with families to support student success.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and monitor progress aligned to site goals.
  • Work with all grades TK-5.
  • Collaborate with all staff.
  • Work for student needs in any capacity needed.
  • ELPAC testing.
  • CAASPP support/testing.
  • Interface with families of students work with per teacher/admin approval.
