About The Position

Visiting Angels of Abilene is hiring an In Home Personal Aide to serve senior adults and other home-care clients throughout the Big Country area, including Sagerton, Stamford, and Hamlin. The role helps clients remain at home or recover at home with dignity. Visits vary by client and may include personal care, light housekeeping, meal preparation, medication reminders, shopping, exercise encouragement, and mobility assistance. Aides must be prepared to respond promptly to medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances. The role calls for competency, compassion, professional discernment, and a desire to provide meaningful companionship to vulnerable people.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent time-management skills.
Reliable transportation to client visits.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks.
Must pass a background check and drug screen.
Training or knowledge in First Aid and emergency response.
A heart for vulnerable people and a desire to provide meaningful companionship.
Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
Perform light housekeeping.
Encourage clients to meet exercise and fitness goals.
Prompt clients to take prescription medications at the appropriate times.
Help clients shop and put away groceries, or shop on their behalf.
Plan and prepare meals in collaboration with clients, based on their abilities.
Assist clients with mobility and ambulation, including moving around the home, going to medical appointments, and taking walks.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies.
Report health changes and unusual circumstances.
