About The Position

Visiting Angels of Birmingham is hiring caregivers to serve clients throughout the Northern Birmingham area, including Trussville, Birmingham, Alton, Chalkville, Moody, and Leads. The role supports clients’ quality of life and wellness according to their custom care plans. Caregivers may provide companionship, help with daily activities, and assist clients at home and while out in the community. Advanced training opportunities are available in areas such as dementia care and Alzheimer’s care.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license, car insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle to transport clients.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Training in First Aid and emergency response; training is provided if needed.
• Excellent time-management skills and ability to manage multiple duties at once.
• Reliable transportation to and from client homes at scheduled times.
• Physical endurance for tasks such as carrying groceries and physically supporting a client.
• Comfort performing housekeeping and cooking duties while adhering to applicable dietary constraints.
• Willingness and ability to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards, such as a background check.
• Compassion, understanding, and a desire to brighten each client’s day.

Nice To Haves

• Interest in broadening skills through advanced training in dementia care and/or Alzheimer’s care.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with light physical exercise or walks.
• Plan and prepare meals with clients.
• Perform light housekeeping duties.
• Report health changes or unusual incidents.
• Provide pleasant, supportive companionship.
• Respond quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
• Accompany and supervise clients during shopping trips.
• Remind clients to take prescription medications appropriately.
• Assist with mobility and ambulation at home and during appointments or errands.
