About The Position
Heartstrings Pet Hospice is hiring In-Home Hospice and Euthanasia Veterinarians to serve pet families across Omaha, Waterloo, Ralston, Boys Town - Nebraska and Councill Bluffs, IA. This role offers a unique practice environment with no waiting rooms, no double-booked appointments, and no corporate production dashboards. The focus is on providing compassionate end-of-life care with ample time for each appointment. The practice is privately held, family-owned, and doctor-led, and importantly, does not use non-compete agreements, allowing veterinarians to build their careers on their own terms. This position is ideal for experienced veterinarians seeking a less demanding pace than general or emergency practice, those returning from a break, or those building a schedule around family needs. Veterinarians who excel at difficult conversations and find deep meaning in end-of-life care will thrive in this role.
Requirements
- DVM/VMD/BVMS degree
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to Work Independently in a Mobile Environment
- Weekend Availability (Rotational)
- Ability to Lift up to 45 lbs Unassisted

Responsibilities
- Provide in-home hospice and euthanasia services for pets.
- Manage a mobile veterinary practice environment independently.
- Conduct difficult conversations with compassion, dignity, and respect.
- Communicate professionally with the team and pet families.
- Work rotational weekends.
