In Home Caregiver | Special Needs
About The Position
Always There In Home Care is seeking a compassionate, dependable, patient, and experienced caregiver to provide personalized in-home care for a female client diagnosed with nonverbal autism and epilepsy. The caregiver will provide hands-on personal care while maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive environment. Experience with nonverbal autism, behavioral redirection, sensory activities, and seizure awareness is desirable. The role is located in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama. The job details also list 820 B Franklin Street, Huntsville, Alabama. The salary range is $14.00–$16.00 per hour.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older and out of high school.
- Must have a current valid driver's license, a reliable vehicle for commuting to work, and current auto insurance.
- Must provide a second form of identification.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Must be comfortable providing hands-on personal care, including incontinence care.
- Must demonstrate patience, compassion, professionalism, and emotional maturity.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to follow detailed care instructions.
- Must be comfortable working in a home with multiple dogs.
- Must have strong communication and observation skills.
- Must maintain client confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Nice To Haves
- Previous caregiving experience is preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or nonverbal communication needs is strongly preferred.
- Experience with epilepsy or seizure disorders is a plus.
- Experience with nonverbal autism, behavioral redirection, sensory activities, and seizure awareness is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Provide full assistance with toileting, incontinence care, diaper changes, and personal hygiene.
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding, and monitor food intake.
- Follow established dietary restrictions and feeding instructions.
- Provide medication reminders and assistance as permitted by company policy.
- Monitor for seizure activity and follow established emergency protocols.
- Engage the client in educational, sensory, and developmental activities.
- Maintain a structured and consistent daily routine.
- Recognize signs of agitation and respond with patience, reassurance, and appropriate redirection.
- Ensure client safety and provide attentive supervision throughout the shift.
- Perform light housekeeping related to client care.
- Maintain accurate daily documentation of care provided.
- Promptly communicate concerns, changes in condition, or incidents to office management.
