About The Position

Visiting Angels Birmingham is seeking compassionate In Home Caregivers - Housekeepers to support senior adults and others in need throughout Northern Birmingham and surrounding communities. The role combines companionship and personal assistance with practical household support, including meal preparation, light housekeeping, mobility assistance, and transportation. Caregivers may also help clients with medication, personal hygiene, exercises, shopping, and other daily activities. The position offers opportunities for advanced training in areas such as dementia and Alzheimer’s care.

Requirements

Passion for serving others and a genuine caregiver orientation.
Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking, with attention to dietary constraints.
Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards.
Respectful and compassionate manner.
Good time-management skills.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong ethics.
Physical endurance.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Help clients take prescribed medication.
Assist clients with ambulation and mobility at home and outside, including to appointments and on walks.
Assist clients with personal care and hygiene.
Help clients with routine exercises.
Plan and prepare meals with clients’ assistance when they are able.
Shop for clients or accompany them while shopping.
Perform light housekeeping tasks clients cannot complete on their own.
Provide pleasant and supportive companionship.
Report unusual incidents.
Act quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
