About The Position

Visiting Angels Springfield is seeking compassionate In Home Caregiver - Housekeepers to support senior adults and others in need across Central Illinois, including Sangamon, Menard, Morgan, and Logan counties, among others. The role provides help with daily living, including light housekeeping, meal preparation, mobility assistance, transportation, companionship, and other tasks. Caregivers may also have opportunities for advanced training in areas such as dementia and Alzheimer’s care. The employer emphasizes client and caregiver introductions and says caregivers are not sent into assignments alone.

The position offers flexible scheduling, with full-time, part-time, and PRN opportunities; weekday, night, and weekend shifts; and shifts ranging from 1 to 12 hours. Caregivers make their own schedules. Pay is $16–$20 per hour, with differential pay for nights and weekends, weekly pay, and a $400 sign-on bonus available to eligible applicants.

Requirements

• Passion for serving others and being a caregiver.
• Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
• Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking, with attention to dietary constraints.
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards.
• Respectful and compassionate manner.
• Good time-management skills.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

• Physical endurance.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Own a vehicle with current insurance.

Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication.
• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility at home and outside the home, including to appointments and on walks.
• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene.
• Help clients with routine exercises.
• Plan and prepare meals with clients’ assistance when they are able.
• Shop for clients or accompany them while shopping.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks clients cannot complete on their own.
• Provide pleasant and supportive companionship.
• Report unusual incidents.
• Act quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
