About The Position

Preferred Care at Home of Wake Forest, Zebulon, and Henderson is seeking compassionate, respectful caregivers (CNAs, PCAs, HHAs, and experienced caregivers) to support seniors in Wake Forest and nearby communities. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide one-on-one care, allowing you to focus on a single client, understand their needs, and build a genuine relationship. The position is assignment-based, with flexible schedules and varying weekly hours determined by client needs, caregiver availability, qualifications, and proximity. The agency aims to match caregivers with clients close to their homes, with potential for additional hours as the client base grows.

Requirements

  • Active, good-standing listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide Registry or the NCDHHS Health Care Personnel Registry
  • Completed PCA or HHA training
  • Previous professional caregiving experience in home care, assisted living, memory care, senior care, or a related setting
  • Relevant personal caregiving experience with the ability to complete required training and competency evaluations
  • A compassionate, patient, and respectful approach to care
  • Reliable transportation to clients’ homes
  • Dependable and professional work habits
  • Strong communication skills
  • The ability to complete required employment and background screening
  • The ability to safely perform the duties of an accepted assignment, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • A valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and acceptable driving record are required for assignments involving client transportation.

  • Current CPR/First Aid certification

Responsibilities

  • Providing companionship and emotional support
  • Assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and personal hygiene
  • Supporting safe transfers, walking, and mobility
  • Preparing meals and assisting with eating
  • Completing light housekeeping and laundry
  • Providing medication reminders
  • Assisting with grocery shopping and errands
  • Providing transportation when authorized as part of the assignment
  • Supporting clients living with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia
  • Observing, documenting, and reporting changes in a client’s condition
  • Following the client’s established plan of care
  • Communicating professionally with clients, families, and the agency
