About The Position

CVS Health is hiring a seasonal, part-time District Support Pharmacist to travel within a district and cover pharmacist scheduling gaps. Under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager and Rx District Leader, the pharmacist supports pharmacy teams and oversees pharmacy operations while working in stores throughout the district. During shifts without an overlapping Pharmacy Manager, the pharmacist serves as the manager’s proxy and may assume day-to-day duties as the primary or only pharmacist on duty.

The role focuses on safe and accurate prescription dispensing, patient counseling, immunizations, and pharmacist-delivered clinical services where permitted. The pharmacist supports positive patient experiences, pharmacy workflow, inventory practices, and the development of pharmacy technicians. The role also requires compliance with applicable laws, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS Health policies, including requirements for patient privacy, controlled substances, and workplace safety. Scheduling requires flexibility, predictable attendance, and availability for nights and weekends.

Requirements

• Active pharmacist license in the state where the store is located.
• Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• Must not be on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
• Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing needs.
• Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
• Ability to concentrate, shift between tasks, verify prescription information and label accuracy, and respond to patient and business needs.
• Customer service, teamwork, verbal and written communication, active listening, mathematical reasoning, and problem-resolution abilities.
• Ability to meet the stated physical demands, including remaining upright for extended periods, repetitive finger work, reaching, stooping, close visual work, and lifting or exerting force as described.

• 1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.

Responsibilities

• Travel within the district to fill pharmacist shifts according to scheduling needs.
• Oversee pharmacy operations and teams, serving as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during shifts without overlap and assuming day-to-day duties when the only or primary pharmacist on duty.
• Dispense prescriptions safely and appropriately, counsel patients, and ensure prescription fulfillment accuracy.
• Follow and direct pharmacy teams to follow workflow procedures and safety guardrails.
• Provide empathetic, compassionate patient care; collaborate with patients’ healthcare teams and proactively resolve insurance or medication issues.
• Offer and deliver immunizations and support Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize.
• Manage pharmacy inventory according to best practices, including protecting cold-chain products.
• Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills through required training, continuing medical education, and other learning opportunities.
• Provide pharmacist-delivered clinical services, such as testing and prescribing services, where permissible, and support holistic patient care.
• Comply with federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS Health policies and procedures.
• Maintain patient privacy and security, comply with controlled-substance dispensing and recordkeeping requirements, and help maintain a safe, inclusive workplace.
• Attend work regularly and predictably, including nights and weekends, and complete required training within designated timeframes.
• Perform additional tasks as directed by a supervisor or manager.
