About The Position

Hy-Vee is seeking a customer-focused Hy-Chi Department Clerk to help deliver a quality food-service experience. The clerk fills customer orders, prepares and replenishes products, maintains food quality and department readiness, and keeps the work area clean, organized, and safe. The role includes serving customers at the counter and by phone, handling register transactions, and supporting department operations. Training is provided.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Up to six months of similar or related experience; training is provided.
Commitment to Hy-Vee's mission and genuine interest in helping customers.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions carefully and with attention to detail.
Basic math skills, including simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Clear communication with customers and coworkers and a positive, team-oriented approach.
Ability to learn and apply sanitation, food safety, and department procedures.
Night and weekend shifts are required.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen is required.

Responsibilities

Greet customers, take Hy-Chi counter orders, and assist customers with their needs throughout the store.
Review daily orders and ensure adequate food supplies are available by developing or following a production list.
Prepare, finish, and replenish products; retrieve products from the cooler or freezer for cooking.
Check food status and appearance for freshness and maintain quality standards throughout the shift.
Receive and put away products and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register, receive payments, and make change as applicable.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean, neat, and safe.
Remove trash promptly and wash dishes as necessary.
Order products and supplies and price products for customers as needed.
Answer phone calls promptly and provide helpful service, including taking customer orders.
Follow the dress code, hygiene standards, and department and company guidelines.
Assist with other tasks and special projects as needed.
