HVAC Technician - Level 3
About The Position
The HVAC Technician 3 provides professional, customer-focused service by delivering, installing, operating, and repairing portable HVAC and Climate Control equipment. The role handles complex Climate Control equipment repairs, troubleshoots rental equipment, checks and repairs returned equipment, and performs general shop duties. The technician also provides training and guidance to other technicians and instructs authorized operators or customers in the safe use of equipment. The position involves coordinating deliveries, pick-ups, and service calls; maintaining equipment records and paperwork; and safely handling gas connections for propane and natural gas applications. The technician is also on call for emergency service and participates in a rotating schedule for emergency response on weekends and evenings.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of HVAC experience.
- An HVAC Certificate recognizing formal training and legal, state-licensed ability to work on refrigeration systems.
- Basic math skills.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record free from points.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Ability to work some after-hours and weekend hours during peak periods.
Responsibilities
- Communicate professionally with customers, managers, and sales engineers to schedule deliveries, pick-ups, and service calls.
- Deliver and install rented HVAC equipment and train authorized operators or customers in its safe use.
- Direct customers to sign the appropriate paperwork and track equipment serial numbers.
- Troubleshoot and understand the operation, function, specifications, capabilities, and controls of rental equipment.
- Operate company vehicles safely and follow company safety policies.
- Clean and test returned equipment to ensure it meets operational and appearance standards.
- Complete paperwork for deliveries, pick-ups, and service calls.
- Install flexible gas hose for propane and natural gas applications.
- Use proper and safe procedures to check gas connections.
- Work with managers and sales engineers to maintain accurate records and tracking of in-stock and rented equipment.
- Repair complex Climate Control equipment, check in and repair equipment, perform general shop duties, and deliver or install Climate Control equipment as needed.
- Provide training and guidance to other technicians.
- Be available for emergency service on a rotating schedule, including weekends and evenings.
