About The Position

The HVAC Technician evaluates and maintains heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems at City facilities using a safe, documented, and responsive approach. The position participates in 24/7 on-call services on a rotating basis with other Facility Maintenance Staff. Pay rate depends on current licenses, certifications, and work experience.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Five years of experience maintaining HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
TDLR Certified/Contractor License.
EPA 608 Universal Certification for handling refrigerants.
Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

Experience with chillers and boilers.
Ice machine certification.

Responsibilities

Install HVAC systems, including heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment.
Perform routine and preventative maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including cleaning, inspecting, and replacing filters, coils, and other components.
Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems, procure parts, and repair malfunctioning HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
Inspect HVAC and refrigeration equipment to ensure it meets safety and environmental standards.
Document work in the work order management system, including time, service performed, parts used, repairs or installations, and observations about future repair needs.
Maintain an organized inventory of tools, equipment, and parts, and keep tools clean and in good working condition.
Maintain a clean work area, storage areas, and assigned vehicle.
Coordinate scheduling with outside contractors and work with other employees to meet City needs.
Assist with non-HVAC and non-refrigeration work orders as needed.
Follow local and national codes, safety regulations, industry standards, and City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned.
