About The Position

This is a part-time apprentice role with Johnstone Supply in the Greater Cincinnati area. From January through March, apprentices work three days per week as paid seasonal employees in the Operations department and attend in-house HVAC installation classes two days per week. The training program comprises 224 hours (28 days, two days per week) of hands-on instruction from a Johnstone instructor. The curriculum covers residential applications that may also apply to commercial HVAC work. Apprentices develop practical skills and gain experience with HVAC equipment, parts, and the industry while working and training with company staff. After completing the program, Johnstone Supply works with local residential HVAC contractor customers to place each apprentice as a full-time installation technician. Candidates must have a clear driving record and criminal record and pass a drug screening.

Responsibilities

Support branch staff in providing exceptional customer service.
Maintain a professional image of Johnstone Supply and provide an exceptional customer shopping experience.
Receive and process incoming product shipments and unload delivery trucks.
Inspect shipments and document any damage.
Store products in their proper locations.
Receive, pull, and prepare customer orders.
Help load products onto delivery trucks or for customers.
Process customer returns.
Assist with branch housekeeping duties as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Branch Manager or Supervisor.
Learn service and installation techniques from a Johnstone Supply Technical Service Advisor.
Learn HVAC safety and best practices, ecological impacts, and EPA certification-related content.
Train hands-on with indoor and outdoor HVAC equipment, including furnaces, air conditioners, and air handlers.
Learn basic ductwork installation and calculations.
Train hands-on with HVAC tools and test equipment, including meters and brazing torches.
