About The Position

The Maintenance Technician II performs maintenance, adjustments, and troubleshooting on HVAC and facility equipment, including air handling units, hot water treatment systems, air ducting equipment, and other support systems. The role is heavily involved in HEPA filter testing in manufacturing clean rooms and in maintaining and repairing HVAC systems, buildings, and production and non-production equipment. The technician supports electrical and mechanical system reliability to minimize downtime and maintain a safe work environment. This is an essential-personnel position supporting site operations.

The role requires adherence to SOPs, cGMPs, site quality and safety procedures, and documentation requirements. The technician follows standard procedures while prioritizing workflows, shares knowledge with teammates, and may perform related duties or special assignments as needed. The position works a 12-hour rotating shift from 6:45 AM to 6:45 PM at the on-premise Rocky Mount, North Carolina location.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of experience.
• Excellent computer user skills.
• Functional or technical knowledge of a basic discipline.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Sound interpersonal, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to stand for 8–12 hours per shift and sit for 2–4 hours per shift.
• Ability to twist at the waist 10 times per hour.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 20 pounds per activity five times per shift and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds per activity once per shift.
• Ability to walk, climb stairs and ladders, walk on catwalks, and don and work in controlled-area garments.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States by any employer; U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available.
• The position requires permanent work authorization in the United States.

Nice To Haves

• HEPA testing certification.
• Previous biopharmaceutical experience.
• Knowledge of FDA PSM and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, adjustments, and troubleshooting on HVAC and facility equipment and systems.
• Operate air handling units, hot water treatment systems, air ducting equipment, and other HVAC and facility support systems.
• Conduct HEPA filter testing in manufacturing clean rooms and track repair history for process support systems used in HEPA testing operations.
• Participate in multi-craft work and activities supporting manufacturing operations.
• Support piping and valve installations, pipe fitting, and welding.
• Assist with plant operations and participate in safety committee inspections and audits.
• Lead or participate in continuous improvement activities related to HVAC and ventilation systems.
• Read and follow equipment schematics, logic diagrams, engineering drawings, and detailed blueprints.
• Conduct rounds in GMP and non-GMP buildings and troubleshoot HVAC-related equipment and systems.
• Train peers and mechanics on equipment supported by the HVAC department.
• Complete maintenance activities within designated timeframes and file required documentation under SOPs, including documentation for extensions.
• Follow Environmental, Health, and Safety requirements and protocols.
• Recommend improvements to process performance.
• Manage time and professional development, take accountability for results, and prioritize workflow.
