About The Position

Under general supervision, the HVAC Service Technician I performs diagnostic, service, and maintenance work on residential and/or light commercial HVAC equipment and accessories. The technician communicates with customers to answer questions, resolve problems, and ensure customer satisfaction, while also promoting the company's products and services. The role works under the direction of the Field Supervisor or General Manager. The position involves servicing heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment; inspecting and diagnosing equipment; completing routine maintenance and cleaning; and delivering or removing parts and equipment needed for service work. The technician documents customer calls and other required information using a handheld device, completes paperwork, collects customer payments, and communicates status and availability to dispatch. The role also requires maintaining company vehicles, tools, and stock, returning defective warranty parts, and representing the company professionally and ethically. The position is based at 30 Center St, Scarborough, ME 04074. The stated annual compensation range is $56,100 to $71,500, with incentive opportunities. Requirements

High school diploma or GED, additional training, and 1–2+ years of HVAC experience; technical training certification is required.
Possess all valid licenses or certifications required by applicable federal, state, provincial, or local laws or regulations for the work area.
EPA and safety certifications are required.
Skill servicing heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment and related accessories.
Proficient mechanical aptitude and ability to operate necessary tools and equipment.
Ability to read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot electrical, refrigerant, and duct-system problems on HVAC equipment.
Ability to start up and balance airflow and align belts and pulleys on systems with little to no supervision.
Ability to install a basic duct fitting.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair electronic air cleaners, refrigeration systems, hot water systems, steam boiler systems, humidifiers, and related equipment with little to no supervision.
Effective communication skills to communicate with customers and resolve issues, complaints, or concerns.
Effective time-management and organizational skills.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Availability to work flexible hours and on-call shifts as needed.
Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders and attic stairs, and maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces to access HVAC units; ability to continually climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
Ability to work in varied environmental conditions, including hot, cold, indoor, outdoor, dry, humid, slippery, elevated, and congested conditions.
Ability to safely climb ladders rated for a 300-pound load while wearing a 30-pound tool belt.
Natural or corrected vision sufficient for close, distance, and peripheral focus with normal depth perception.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Perform residential and/or light commercial service and maintenance calls under general supervision.
Analyze, diagnose, and resolve customer problems courteously, professionally, accurately, and promptly.
Diagnose and service heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment and accessories.
Inspect equipment and perform diagnostics to identify potential problems and prevent premature breakdowns or callbacks.
Complete routine maintenance and equipment cleaning as needed or required.
Deliver and remove parts and equipment needed to complete service work.
Record required customer-call information using a handheld device; complete forms and paperwork neatly, promptly, completely, and accurately; and collect customer payments.
Communicate with dispatch while on duty to provide accurate activity and availability status.
Deliver excellent customer service and sustain high levels of customer satisfaction.
Promote products and services, and contact the Sales and Service Coordinator with details of replacement-product sales leads generated during customer service visits.
Ensure company property, vehicles, and tools are used, maintained, and accounted for properly.
Represent the company professionally, honestly, and ethically in business matters and activities.
Follow standard procedures and processes; keep the company vehicle properly stocked; return defective warranty parts to the branch; and order or replenish vehicle stock as needed.
Perform similar or other duties as needed or assigned.
Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
