About The Position

Johnson Controls is looking for an experienced HVAC Truck Based Service Manager to lead service customer account activity, drive labor and material growth, and support profitable execution for a diverse field team. In this role, you will help strengthen customer relationships, develop people, and maintain a strong focus on safety and service quality. You will own the day-to-day leadership of the service business for an assigned customer base, balancing operational execution, financial performance, and team development. The role requires a hands-on manager who can coordinate technicians and team leads, support customer satisfaction, and ensure work is delivered safely and consistently.

Requirements

  • Technical school training or equivalent experience in the HVAC or building controls industry.
  • Three or more years of management experience in a similar service deliverable environment.
  • Strong ability to prioritize work activities, manage scheduling, and lead a diverse team.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and negotiating skills.
  • Demonstrated competence in written and verbal communication.
  • Basic financial accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office products and a basic Windows environment.
  • Passion for leading people in a diverse workforce that includes union and non-union employees.

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma in Electronic or Mechanical Systems.
  • Five years of prior experience in the HVAC or building controls industry.
  • Five or more years in a service management role directing a similar service deliverable team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead service customer account activity for the team’s customer base, including Labor and Material growth and service execution.
  • Set and monitor goals for gross margin delivery and overall profitability, including Planned Services Agreements and L&M work.
  • Drive L&M growth through Technicians and Team Leads while supporting strong service delivery.
  • Lead the resolution of warranty-related customer issues and other service execution concerns.
  • Review and approve L&M quotations.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and accounts payable/receivable.
  • Maintain fleet and tools inventory to support daily operations.
  • Ensure consistency of delivery systems through supervision and audits of Technicians, Customer Service Agents, and others involved in the service process.
  • Support staffing plans by hiring, training, transitioning, and developing team members.
  • Conduct formal performance reviews and manage day-to-day performance issues.
  • Promote and maintain safety program compliance across the service team.
  • Build strong customer relationships that support satisfaction, retention, and business growth.
