About The Position

Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Physical Plant Services is hiring an HVAC Refrigeration Mechanic to install, repair, and maintain HVAC systems and refrigeration units across campus. The role includes diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults and cleaning, adjusting, and repairing HVAC systems.

The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a 45-minute lunch, and Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The hourly rate is $21.05. The selected candidate may be allowed time to obtain the required EPA certification; the posting gives both 60 days and 30 days as the allowable period.

Requirements

• Two years of experience or training in the installation and/or maintenance of heating, ventilating, or air conditioning systems.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Be able to be certified through the Southeastern Defensive Driving Course.
• Possess an EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery technician certification under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act; Southeastern requires Type IV, Universal Certification. The selected candidate may be allowed time to obtain the certification.
