About The Position
Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Physical Plant Services is seeking an HVAC Refrigeration Mechanic to install, repair, and maintain HVAC systems and refrigeration units across campus. The role includes diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults and cleaning, adjusting, and repairing HVAC systems. The work schedule is Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a 45-minute lunch, and Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The hourly rate is $21.05. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain certification through Southeastern’s Defensive Driving Course. The position requires EPA Section 608 Type IV, Universal Certification. The posting gives differing acquisition periods: one section says up to 60 days after selection, while another says up to 30 days.
Requirements
- Two years of experience or training in the installation and/or maintenance of heating, ventilating, or air conditioning systems.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Ability to be certified through Southeastern’s Defensive Driving Course.
- EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery technician certification under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act; Southeastern requires Type IV, Universal Certification. The posting allows the selected candidate time to acquire it, stating both 30 days and 60 days in different sections.
