About The Position

Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Physical Plant Services is hiring an HVAC Refrigeration Mechanic to install, repair, and maintain HVAC systems and refrigeration units across campus. The work includes diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults and cleaning, adjusting, and repairing HVAC systems.

The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a 45-minute lunch, and Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The hourly rate is $21.05.

Applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain certification through Southeastern’s Defensive Driving Course. Technicians must have an appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act. Southeastern requires Type IV, Universal Certification and allows the selected candidate up to 30 days to acquire it.

Requirements

• Two years of experience or training in the installation and/or maintenance of heating, ventilating, or air conditioning systems.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to be certified through Southeastern’s Defensive Driving Course.
• Appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act; Southeastern requires Type IV, Universal Certification. The selected candidate may acquire the required certification within 30 days of selection.
