About The Position
Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Physical Plant Services is hiring an HVAC Refrigeration Mechanic responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining HVAC systems and refrigeration units across campus. The work includes diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults and cleaning, adjusting, and repairing HVAC systems. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a 45-minute lunch, and Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The hourly rate is $21.05. The posting closes November 10, 2026; applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on that date.
Requirements
- Two years of experience or training in the installation and/or maintenance of heating, ventilating, or air conditioning systems.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Ability to be certified through Southeastern’s Defensive Driving Course.
- Appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery technician certification under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990; Southeastern requires Type IV, Universal Certification. The posting states that the selected candidate will be allowed up to 30 days to acquire the certification.
