Human Resources Specialist

IU HealthIndianapolis, IN
Hybrid

About The Position

Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody excellence, compassion, teamwork, and purpose to join their Regional HR team in the role of Human Resources Specialist. This position is for an analytically driven, independently minded, and genuinely curious HR professional to join the Medical Group HR team. While the role includes tactical work such as anniversary recognition, rehire eligibility verification, and I-9 processing, its core function is analytical. The HR Specialist will own the exit interview process from start to finish, including scheduling, conducting interviews with thoughtful follow-up questions, synthesizing findings, and producing root cause analysis reports for HR business partners and physician leaders. Additionally, they will undertake small special projects requiring business understanding, data analysis, and recommendations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office required (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); pivot table
  • Analytical and Critical Thinking First: This is the top priority. You do not just run the report; you ask what the data means, what is driving the trend, and what the business needs to know as a result.
  • Excel Proficient: Pivot tables, data analysis, and report generation are core to this role. You are extremely comfortable with Excel and do not need to be taught the basics.
  • Independently Driven: Most of the team is spread across the state and often out of the office. You work well on your own, manage your time without being reminded, and do not need someone nearby to stay productive.
  • Detail Oriented: Your output goes directly to physician leaders. Accuracy in names, titles, data, and formatting is not optional, it is the standard.
  • Genuinely Curious: You want to understand why a task matters and how HR supports the business, not just how to complete the task.
  • Service Oriented and Urgent: You respond with a sense of urgency, treat every request like it matters, and bring a customer service mindset to internal partners and stakeholders.
  • Professionally Mature: You bring professionalism, composure, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Growth Minded: You are motivated to develop, learn the business, and build a career in HR at IU Health.
