About The Position

The Gathering Spot is hiring a fractional HR Contractor to add capacity to our growing people operations. This role owns the day-to-day execution of recruiting, employee relations, terminations, and policy compliance across our Atlanta and Washington, D.C. employee base.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of HR generalist experience, including direct experience managing recruiting, employee relations, and terminations
  • Deep working knowledge of Georgia employment law and District of Columbia employment law — multi-state experience is required
  • Hands-on operator mindset — this role does the work, not just advises on it
  • Track record of running hiring pipelines from sourcing through offer
  • Experience documenting and executing terminations, including in sensitive or complicated situations
  • Strong written communication skills — this role writes offer letters, policy documents, termination memos, and employee communications regularly
  • Excellent organizational skills and comfort managing multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Discretion and judgment — this role handles confidential personnel matters daily

Nice To Haves

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred
  • Experience in hospitality, membership clubs, or service-industry HR is a plus but not required

Responsibilities

  • Source candidates and manage top-of-funnel recruiting across open roles in Atlanta and D.C.
  • Post jobs, screen resumes, conduct phone screens, and coordinate interview schedules with hiring managers
  • Draft and send offer letters; manage candidate communication through hire date
  • Maintain applicant tracking and reporting on time-to-hire, source quality, and pipeline health
  • Coordinate background checks and reference checks
  • Serve as the primary HR point of contact for employee questions, complaints, and concerns
  • Investigate and document workplace issues; advise managers on appropriate next steps
  • Handle conflict resolution and mediation between employees and between employees and managers
  • Conduct stay interviews and exit interviews; surface trends to leadership
  • Manage termination processes from documentation through exit, including paperwork, final pay coordination, and offboarding
  • Advise managers on performance documentation and progressive discipline
  • Support managers through PIPs and performance-related conversations
  • Maintain personnel files with appropriate documentation for performance, training, and disciplinary records
  • Own employee handbook updates and policy maintenance
  • Ensure TGS remains compliant with federal, Georgia, and District of Columbia employment law (including ADA, FMLA, PWFA, PDA, FLSA, state-specific wage and hour laws, paid sick leave requirements)
  • Monitor regulatory changes in GA and DC and update policies and practices accordingly
  • Manage required postings, notices, and annual compliance filings
  • Maintain I-9 compliance and E-Verify processes
  • Coordinate with payroll on classification, exempt/non-exempt status, and pay practice compliance
  • Run new hire onboarding including paperwork, benefits enrollment coordination, and orientation logistics
  • Manage offboarding paperwork, COBRA notices, final pay, and equipment return
