About The Position

The Department of Corrections, Division of Administrative Services, is recruiting for a Human Resource Technician 2 Payroll position located in Juneau, Alaska. This position analyzes, calculates, audits, certifies timesheets, and processes personnel actions on time and without error. This includes assuring all payroll and leave transactions are in accordance with applicable Personnel Rules, Bargaining Unit provisions, State Statutes, and Standard Operating Procedures for the State of Alaska. Requirements

  • Six months of entry technical level experience in human resource work equivalent to a Human Resource Technician 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
  • Graduation from high school or the equivalent and one year of advanced clerical experience.
  • One year of postsecondary education (32 semester hours or 48 quarter hours from an accredited college or university equals one year) in any field.
  • Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
  • Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  • Treats others with courtesy, sensitivity, and respect. Considers and responds appropriately to the needs and feelings of different people in different situations.
  • Understands and interprets written material, including technical material, rules, regulations, instructions, reports, charts, graphs, or tables; applies what is learned from written material to specific situations.
  • Sets well-defined and realistic personal goals; displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner; works with minimal supervision; is motivated to achieve; demonstrates responsible behavior.
  • Must be legally authorized to accept employment in the United States.
  • Must pass a criminal history check and be fingerprinted.
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance to use the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN).
