Responsible for managing the Hot Rolling Mill Mechanical Maintenance Department including salaried and hourly employees. Supervise, direct, and further develop a team of specialists, planners and supervisors with shift technicians (e. g. Manage time keeping, PTO and scheduling). Be a leader in safety! Foster a safe working environment by enforcing employee compliance with all plant and department operating policies and procedures. Assess and evaluate performance, development, and motivation of subordinates through the yearly performance appraisal process. Perform efficiently in a team-oriented environment and establish a good cooperation with the teams for electrical maintenance, operations, and tooling. Reduce maintenance downtime and cost by utilizing best practices including predictive and preventative maintenance, initiate equipment improvement/renewal projects etc. Lead the planning and execution of down days and outages involving all other required BENTELER teams (electrical maintenance, operations, infrastructure, tooling, engineering etc.) and contractors. Utilize and continuously improve the Maintenance Management Systems (e.g. SAP PM) to effectively manage (record, analyze and report) all maintenance activities. Continuously improve the refurbishment process for parts and assemblies by building strong relationships with external partners. Develop a network of outside contractors/consultants for down day activities. Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification required.
  • AAS/AS/BS or the equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a maintenance leadership position, ideally in a hot rolling mill (respective experience in maintenance management processes and systems).
  • Experience in building up and developing complex and successful maintenance organizations.
  • Project Management (e.g. implementation of new equipment, outage planning etc.).
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, applied creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance scheduling, cost tracking and forecasting.
  • Proficiency in a maintenance management system (e.g. SAP PM).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Proven track record of understanding and coordinating complex technical issues that require the use of project management skills.
  • Proficient in mechanical drive systems, hydraulics, pneumatics.
  • Basic knowledge of electricity and electronics and PLC fundamentals.
