About The Position

The global Human Resource (HR) Function provides an integrated talent management system that delivers a workforce that is Corning's competitive differentiator in the global marketplace. HR provides service offerings that align solutions to business challenges by ensuring the programs are Effective, Efficient, Global, Scaleable, and Repeatable. Corning’s Values are operationalized by the HR Function through the facilitation of Talent Management offerings, as well as programs and processes that aid in making Corning’s Values visible. As the Plant HR Manager, you cultivate and maintain a positive work environment and operate as “One Corning” in support of Corning’s Values while providing optimal level of HR service and delivery in support of business goals and objectives. You will partner closely with plant, division, and corporate leadership on key initiatives while ensuring compliance to legal and regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in in Human Resources, Business, Organization Development, Psychology or Labor Relations
  • Able to operate independently and drive all aspects of the HR role for the plant
  • Advanced data analysis and computer skills
  • HR service orientation with a strong ability and passion for balancing the needs of the company, business, and our employees
  • Expert level communication skills
  • Able to develop and deploy HR initiatives

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2 years’ progressive experience in the HR function
  • Manufacturing and union/labor relations experience
  • Greenbelt certification
  • First line supervisor experience
  • Successful track record in the deployment of global processes or program
  • Experience leading quality, training, safety, and security programs or projects
  • Work experience in designing and implementing effective organization structures and work processes that improve the plant ability to achieve desired results-product start up, expansion, or mature business optimization
  • Business and financial acumen
  • Strong knowledge of applicable laws and ability to quickly interpret, apply, and administer policies and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Lead labor relations for a 175-employee union workforce, including grievances, CBA support, and compliance
  • Foster a positive, inclusive work environment and maintain a strong plant-floor presence
  • Address employee concerns, disputes, and conflicts quickly and effectively
  • Oversee recruiting, hiring, and onboarding to ensure strong staffing levels
  • Partner with hiring managers to define needs and attract qualified talent
  • Ensure hiring practices align with union agreements and company policies
  • Promote compliance training and support talent development and succession planning
  • Guide performance management, employee development, and corrective action
  • Support employee recognition and engagement efforts
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and maintain accurate HR records and reporting
  • Partner with plant leadership to align HR priorities with business goals
  • Analyze HR trends and recommend process and policy improvements
  • Partner with Division HR to support retention, standardization, and shared services
  • Serve as the plant’s HR voice and coach leaders to foster a positive work environment
