About The Position

Harrah’s Northern California is looking for a dynamic and motivated Human Resources Intern. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in Human Resources operations within the gaming and hospitality industry. The intern will collaborate closely with the human resources team on a variety of tasks, including HR systems, recruiting, training & development, employee relations, and wardrobe. This role is integral to enhancing retention, continuous improvement, and promoting a positive work environment.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional drive with a strong desire to learn.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with social media platforms.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Must present a well-groomed, professional appearance.
  • Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and complies with all state, federal and regulatory policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of design tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar software (preferred).
  • Passion for Human Resources within the hospitality, gaming, or entertainment industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Human Resources team in daily administrative tasks.
  • Learns the operational workings of the department assigned by observing Team Members, participating in meetings, asking questions, and evaluating processes and services.
  • Completes special projects as assigned by department management.
  • Assists department management with assigned operational functions consistent with the strategic plan and vision for the department, division, and organization.
  • Provide support for Human Resources activities, such as employee engagement and recruiting initiatives.
  • Assist in the distribution of Human Resources materials.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of Human Resources activities.
  • Participate in meetings and brainstorming sessions to develop innovative Human Resources strategies.
  • Collaborate with Interns from other departments to organize, complete, and present group project (when applicable).
  • Develop an understanding of each area of the Human Resources Division.
  • Volunteer in events organized by the H.E.R.O. Committee to provide support to local organizations in the community.
  • All team members will follow the Everyone Greets Everyone (EGE) policy.
  • It is the expectation that every team member, front or back of house, should proactively seek out opportunities to greet guests and their fellow team members daily.
  • EGE policy states teams members should: acknowledge guests and fellow team members within 10 feet; initiate friendly verbal greeting within 5 feet; keep your head up, look around (“head on a swivel”); look for opportunities to greet guests and others; please remember that when you are on the floor, you are “on stage”.
  • Team members will participate in all mandatory meetings and pre-shift BUZZ sessions.
  • Must have consistent and regular attendance.
  • Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team.
