About The Position

Wolseley Canada is seeking an HR Generalist to support its corporate and field operations. This role offers broad HR support across various responsibilities including Workday administration, HR Business Partner support, employee relations, talent acquisition, training, regulatory compliance, and special projects. The ideal candidate is polished, professional, and thrives in a fast-paced corporate environment, capable of navigating diverse personalities, handling difficult conversations with composure, and delivering excellent HR service to leaders at all levels. This position requires onsite support three days per week at the Burlington Corporate Office.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resource Management or a related field
  • 3 years of work experience in a similar role
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with high emotional intelligence; naturally adapts communication style to diverse audiences, builds trust quickly, and navigates sensitive situations with professionalism and composure.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to offer sound judgment and practical HR recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, multitask, and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality and operate within appropriate privacy standards.
  • Knowledge of current HR trends, Employment Standards, and applicable employment legislation, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a business context.

Nice To Haves

  • CHRP designation (completed or in progress) is an asset.
  • Experience with Workday is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Administer Workday to support field HR Business Partners, employee relations, onboarding, performance and talent management, training, and special projects.
  • Coach and assist managers on employee relations, organizational policies, and termination processes in both corporate and field environments.
  • Identify, evaluate, and resolve human relations and work performance issues to facilitate communication and improve employee relations.
  • Manage complex staffing responsibilities including employee relations matters, investigations, dispute resolution, terminations, and the administration of disciplinary processes with discretion and professionalism.
  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition team to manage recruitment needs.
  • Lead and support full-cycle organizational change initiatives, including job profile and job description development, compensation analysis, offer letter preparation, and timely Workday updates.
  • Support the annual talent cycle including performance, talent review, and compensation by providing coaching to leaders and associates.
  • Prepare reports to support the needs of various business units.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and provincial employment legislation.
  • Serve as a trusted link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting policies, and helping resolve work-related issues.
