About The Position

Valero is seeking an HR Advisor to partner with employees and management and communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations. The role serves as a point of contact for assigned HR areas, which may include employee relations, training, employment, labor relations, affirmative action, and employment equity programs. The position is based on-site at the Valero Texas City Refinery and is salaried exempt, so it is not eligible for overtime pay.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 2 years of professional-level Human Resources experience.
Ability and willingness to work on-site, in person, at the Valero Texas City Refinery.
Must be eligible to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s or higher-level degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related area.
PHR certification.
Experience with SAP.

Responsibilities

Serve as a point of contact for assigned HR areas, which may include employee relations, training, employment, labor relations, affirmative action, and employment equity programs.
Provide guidance to management and employees on HR-related concerns, coordinate with other departments as needed, and refer complex issues to higher levels.
Participate in employee investigations and assist with recommendations on resolutions.
Participate in grievance procedures and exit interviews.
Review data and help communicate recommendations to management for corrective action and continuous improvement.
Initiate and complete processing of employment, termination, transfer, and promotion duties for personnel in the assigned area.
Design and run monthly reports.
Research and send employee information to Compensation when requesting salary recommendations.
Assist with special projects and department functions.
Assist lower-level HR staff as needed.
Provide new hires with an overview of HR policies.
