About The Position

The Barrington Hotel is seeking a Houseperson to join their team. This role is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the public areas of the hotel, ensuring a positive first impression for guests. The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality and wants to contribute to delivering genuine Halifax hospitality.

Requirements

Previous cleaning experience
Knowledge of various types of cleaning equipment such as floor scrubber and shampooer
Experience working in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work different and flexible shifts
Motivated, detail orientated and organized individual, with a strong work ethic and the ability to excel in a face paced environment
Must be able to move throughout the hotel (standing, walking, kneeling, and bending) for extended periods of time
Must be able to make repeated and continued movements of the shoulders, elbows and hands (below waist and overhead movement) as well as use various cleaning equipment and chemicals

Responsibilities

Clean and maintain public areas: lobby, restaurant, pool, guest corridors
Report any damage of flooring surfaces, carpets, and upholsteries
Ensure the use of cleaning chemicals is according to the instructions set by the hotel
Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of cleaning equipment
Report any unusual and suspicious behaviour of guests or staff
Conduct duties in a courteous, safe and efficient manner, in accordance with hotel policies and procedures, ensuring that the highest level of service and communication is maintained
Comply with all hotel standards and procedures
Actively promote a courteous work environment, for guests and associates alike
Perform any other duties that may be assigned
Ensure compliance with legislated health and safety requirements within the workplace
Such other similar or related duties may be required from time to time
