About The Position
The Houseperson supports Room Attendants by stripping linen from guest rooms, delivering needed amenities and missing items, and performing other tasks that contribute to guest-room comfort, cleanliness, and safety. The role also ensures guest requests are fulfilled to satisfaction within required guidelines. The Houseperson cleans guest rooms and designated public and operational areas, handles linens and guest-room glassware and cutlery, and keeps carts, bags, and closets stocked with necessary supplies and equipment. The position requires teamwork and may include other duties assigned by the manager. This is a full-time position with hours and days that vary according to business needs, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and/or overnight shifts.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to stand throughout the entire shift.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with employees and guests at all levels in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work a flexible AM/PM schedule, including Saturday and Sunday weekends and holidays.
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of experience in a hotel or related field.
Responsibilities
- Clean designated areas, including restrooms, public areas, offices, and banquet, meeting, and conference rooms.
- Dust and polish furniture and fixtures; vacuum, mop, sweep, shampoo carpets, wash windows, clean and wax floors, remove and dispose of trash, and empty ashtrays.
- Stock the cart, bag, or closet in the morning and afternoon with necessary linens, guest supplies, and cleaning equipment.
- Sort damaged linen or linen requiring re-washing and return it to Laundry.
- Clean guest rooms daily according to operational policies and standards.
- Remove soiled bed and bath linens and replace them with clean linens.
- Collect, clean, and restock guest-room glassware, stemware, and cutlery.
- Deliver dirty linen to the basement for Laundry pickup.
- Cooperate with and assist other employees as needed.
- Perform other duties assigned by the manager.
- Ensure guest requests are met to satisfaction within required guidelines.
