About The Position
The Housekeeping position keeps commercial, retail, airport, hospitality, healthcare, convention center/arena, and other institutional premises clean and orderly. The role cleans and maintains rooms and shared spaces, floors, furnishings, fixtures, windows, and other surfaces, and transports waste to disposal areas. The job has no supervisory responsibilities. No prior experience or training is required. The employee must be able to understand and communicate simple information in English, perform basic arithmetic, and follow simple one- or two-step instructions. No computer skills or certifications are needed.
Requirements
- No prior experience or training required.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, and to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to present information in English effectively in one-on-one and small-group situations.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with tens and hundreds, including using American units of money, weight, volume, and distance.
- Ability to use common-sense understanding to follow simple one- or two-step instructions and handle standardized situations with few or no variables.
- No computer skills needed.
- No certifications needed.
- Ability to stand, walk, handle objects, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear; frequently climb or balance; and frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Responsibilities
- Clean and polish lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
- Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
- Sweep, scrub, finish, and polish floors.
- Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
- Dust furniture and equipment.
- Polish metalwork.
- Wash walls, ceilings, and woodwork.
- Wash windows, door panels, and sills.
- Empty wastebaskets and empty and clean ashtrays.
- Transport trash and waste to the disposal area.
